EduCity Iskandar Malaysia (EduCity) is a pioneering multi-varsity education hub located in Nusajaya, comprising universities and institutes of higher education, academia-industry action and R&D centres, as well as student accommodation, shared sports and recreational facilities. As an Entry Point Project (EPP) under the education NKEA to provide a feeder system for the economic pillars of Iskandar Malaysia, EduCity aspires to create Asia’s first “best-in-class” higher education destination with a superior urban environment in which students and staff can live, work, study and play.

Education@Iskandar Sdn Bhd (EISB), a subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) has attracted major educational institutions to collaborate on this landmark project to grow in tandem with Iskandar Malaysia’s socio-economic development. With the highly anticipated launch of LEGOLAND® Malaysia and Indoor Theme Park @ Puteri Harbour, a hospitality and tourism institute is being approached to set up base in EduCity. The cinematic school too is there for a purpose, with internationally renowned film production company Pinewood Shepperton setting up the region’s biggest independently-owned studio to start production in 2013. The graduates are guaranteed a taste of the Hollywood glamour by working with the experts of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studio. Johor, being a popular international harbour and port, will also offer numerous job opportunities to the graduates of NMIT.

A Primary Trust School and an American College are also set to join in the fold to further enhance Malaysia’s reputation as a regional leader in education and academia. Projecting into the future, EduCity aims to provide the world’s best resources for students all over the world, with job opportunities that abound within the same locale itself.

Students and staff in EduCity Iskandar Malaysia will enjoy an integrated campus experience with ready access to shared amenities including the International Student Village, which offer dynamic lifestyle and living options. This first block of apartments for student accommodations can house up to 600 students. In addition, a 14,000-seater stadium and sports complex housing sporting facilities of international tournament standards in EduCity Iskandar Malaysia will also be completed by 2012.

The 13-acre NUMed campus was completed in May 2011 and opened by Prince Andrew on 1st November. Newcastle Medical School has consistently ranked as one of the top medical schools in the UK. NUMed is Newcastle University’s first branch campus abroad, offering undergraduate degrees in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, as well as opportunities for postgraduate study.

Netherlands Maritime Institute of Technology (NMIT)
NMIT is already in operation with students ready to move in as soon as their EduCity facility is complete. NMIT specialises in maritime education and providing solutions to the maritime industry within the region with its unique collaboration with two maritime institutes which are amongst the most reputable and oldest in Europe, Maritiem Instituut Wilem Barrentz and Maritiem Instituut de Ruyter.
The University of Reading Malaysia
The University of Reading Malaysia’s brand new campus in Iskandar Malaysia is expected to be completed in September 2015, with an initial intake of 500 students and long-term numbers of about 2,000. Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are being developed to include programs within real estate, construction, finance, law, chemistry and pharmacy.
One of the world's top 200 universities, the University of Reading has attracted international students to its campus in the UK for over 100 years. The planned opening of their campus in Malaysia in 2015 is an important and very exciting step for the University.

This 65-acre multi-faculty campus will be the first self-accrediting university within Raffles Education Corp offering undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in Design & Art, Business, Education & Social Sciences, and also ICT. MMU will offer a Cinematic Arts Degree at MMU’s new campus at EduCity. The course will be delivered in collaboration with the world renowned film school, the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California (USC). The course which entails a “script to screen” approach is designed to enable students to explore a range of cinematic arts from an Asian-World-Wide perspective and learn the skills necessary to become cinematic content creators and well-prepared specialists in their chosen cinematic arts field.
